My son, Roberto, was a miracle. Who would have thought that mine and Rosaura's child would bring me closer to Tita? It is true, though. For the time before Roberto's Christening, Roberto, Tita, and I were a family. At the moment of Roberto's birth, when I was unable to be there, Tita was. Tita wa sthe first person to see my son enter this world. If not for her, Roberto might not have survived. When Rosaura's milk dried up, the three of us were the only ones who knew how Tita was feeding Roberto, breastfeeding. When Rosaura was too sickly to be with Roberto, Tita cared for him. Tita and I were the ones at the Christening to present Roberto to the community, without Rosaura. It is obvious who the true mother of my son is.
However, at the Christening, Mama Elena decided she would send Rosaura, Roberto, and me to San Antonio. This was the moment when I realized that Mama Elena is the controller of our world. She decides what happens, and everybody obeys. So, I had no choice but to go away, and leave my lovely Tita. While I have been away, I have done nothing but think of her, especially while with Roberto, who I know missed his mother, his real one. Because of his separation from Tita and the milk she had been giving him, his life with Rosaura and without milk killed him. I know now whose fault this is. Mama Elena killed my son. Mama Elena separated our little family, of Tita, Roberto, and me. It was because of this that Roberto died, because of Mama Elena.
I wonder how my love Tita is doing. I don't imagine she will take the news well.
Pedro,
ReplyDeleteIt is not likely for Tita, who was is not pregnant or has a child of her own, to have been able to be breastfeeding Roberto. Therefore I do not find it correct for you to assume that the death of Roberto was a result of the separation from Tita and the milk she had given Roberto. However, I do agree his death took place because of malnutrition. Also as an loved aunt, Tita was right for taking care of Roberto in the way that she did, however because of this, it does not mean that Tita is the "true mother" of your son. The real mother is always the one who was pregnant and gave birth to their child and in this case, this is your wife, Rosaura. I understand that you are upset with Mama Elena because now you are farther apart from your one true love, Tita but please understand Pedro, that you have contributed to her decision due to your visible feelings toward Tita and because of this Mama Elena is trying to protect Rosaura from getting hurt. In all Mama Elena is trying to do what is healthiest for your family and your relationship with Rosaura, and in her opinion it would be to not be for you to leave the ranch and Tita.
Pedro-
ReplyDeleteIt is a disgrace to hear you say that you still love Tita. You are married to Rosaura now and you have to except the fact that she is your wife and Tita is not. You and Tita are also crazy to think that she has milk to feed a baby. She has not been married or had a baby so it is physically impossible. I will discipline her now that she has to take care of me. Tita will regret even trying to give Roberto breast milk. About the fact that I sent you to San Antonio, I did send you away because of yours and Tita's affair because it was inappropriate and immature. I understand that Roberto died from not eating but just because I sent you away does not mean that I killed him. If you and Tita had acted like adults, then you could have still been at the ranch. You, Tita, and Roberto would never have been a family even if Roberto was still alive. Do not complain about your troubles because you are now married to Rosaura, not Tita.
I love you so much Pedro and I miss you so much. Everyday I pray for you to come home. When your child was born and I was nursing him, I felt I grew not just closer to your child but to you yourself. I know that one day me and you will be together. I agree that Mama Elena killed poor baby Roberto and she is solely to blame for his tragic death. I hope that one day me and you will reunite and have sons of our own.
